Treatment Approach

Counseling is a collaborative effort. It cannot be successful without your hard work and courage.

Understanding oneself and accepting where you are today is vital in starting your healing journey. This includes exploring how past experiences have shaped the way you view yourself and how you relate to others.

During your session with Anne, she will provide a safe place to explore your thoughts, actions, and feelings. This will allow you the opportunity to challenge your thinking and learn different ways to express feelings.

Anne incorporates several different therapeutic approaches which will vary depending on which one produces the most favorable results for you.

Every Step is a Healing Step

EMDR Therapy

EMDR therapy does not require talking in detail about the distressing issue or
completing homework between sessions. EMDR therapy, rather than focusing on changing the emotions, thoughts, or behaviors resulting from the distressing issue, allows the brain to resume its natural healing process.

EMDR therapy is designed to resolve unprocessed traumatic memories in the brain. For many clients, EMDR therapy can be completed in fewer sessions than other psychotherapies.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive behavioral therapy is a psycho-social intervention that aims to improve mental health. CBT focuses on challenging and changing unhelpful cognitive distortions and behaviors, improving emotional regulation, and the development of personal coping strategies that target solving current problems.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

Dialectical behavior therapy is an evidence-based psychotherapy that began with efforts to treat borderline personality disorder. There is evidence that DBT can be useful in treating mood disorders, suicidal ideation, and for change in behavioral patterns such as self-harm, and substance abuse.

Cognitive-Behavioral Conjoint Therapy (CBCT)

Cognitive-behavioral conjoint therapy for posttraumatic stress disorder (CBCT for PTSD) is designed to improve PTSD symptoms and enhance intimate relationship adjustment.

Vestibular Therapy for anxiety and stress

Through this approach, we can determine if you are experiencing anxiety, stress, or a simple misalignment of your vestibular system. The vestibular system is responsible for sensing body position and movement. Scientists believe that there are areas in the brain that can cause both symptoms.
